Temperament of the breed

Lapinkoira has only little difference in temperament between males and bitches against the other breeds. Both genders are friendly and nice, they want share all activities with theirs breeder. It is a contact dog suitable for the begginers, active seniors and responsible older children.

Lapinkoira is loving and loyal family dog who very well get along with children and other dogs. Regarding their attribute of very social dog they desire to be a part of family. They are always available for their breeders to pleased them. You don´t have to be afraid to let them alone with your children. They are sensitive and soft copartners and always patient in the games with children. When the game start be boring for them, they will ignore the kids. However it´s necessary to learn children how they must behave to the dog immediately after arrival of the puppy to the new home.

We cannot let children to abuse a good-natured temperament of lapinkoira. Even this breed needs to have their tranquility and space for a rest.

Lapinkoira will assume you by theirs unconflict nature. They try to avoid the problem situations and confrontations. Reversely they appreciate the friendliness. So please don´t be surprised if your free-running bitch will welcome every person and every dog in her range. Lapinkoira will play with every dog which shows his interest. However the dog which show her disinterest or even aggressiveness will be lapinkoira ignore. The same behaviour will show finnish lapphund to the people who will be acting identically. If you meet on your walk different animals (for example hens) the well socialized lapinkoira will want to play with them.

Finnish lapphnund is not a watchdog. When occure someone foreign he will announce him by loud barking but you don´t have to expect the intervention to all the better for your property. When you have well socialized lapinkoira you don´t have to be afraid that she will bite someone of your visitors. This breed doesn´t shows by excessively barking. It can happens only in time of boredom or loneliness.

With regard to their shepherds roots, intelligence, activity and very good mobility is an excellent dog for agility, obedience, flyball, frisbee and many other dog sports. If you don´t want to do any of these sports with your dog you don´t have to be sad. Finnish lapphund will appreciate also a long walks and your presence. Nevertheless as same as the different breeds they need to be well-behaved and it´s suitable to learn them basics of docility. It´s not hard to learn them the docility and well socialize with other animals because they´re smart and social intelligent. It´s suitably to exhibit them who is the master from their childhood and also to be rigorous - BUT NOT BY HARD EDUCATION = LAPINKOIRA DON´T NEED THAT!! During the training is not useful to repeat one excercise all the time. It´s better to repeat it lately or next day.

This adaptive breed can also live with their family in flat - but it needs to have enough movement. However theirs origin and density of fur predestinate them to live outside with frequent contact with family. If you let him the free entry between the garden and house they will be the happiest dogs ever. It´s good to pay attention if you want to accommodate your lapphund in the flat - it´s not good to let him alone for a long time. Than they can become bored with too much energy and they can start to destroy your furniture. The type of life like this is not suitable for this active breed.

Lapinkoira se na rozdíl od některých plemen vyznačuje jen malým rozdílem v temperamentu fen a psů. Obě pohlaví jsou přátelská a milá, chtějí sdílet veškeré aktivity se svým pánem. Je to kontaktní pes vhodný pro začátečníky, aktivní seniory i zodpovědné starší děti.

Lapinkoira je milující a oddaný rodinný pes, který dobře vychází s dětmi a dalšími psy. Vzhledem k tomu, že je to velmi společenský pes, touží být součástí rodiny. Je pro svého pána vždy k dispozici, touží ho potěšit.

Nemusíte se obávat nechat ho pohromadě s dítětem. Je to citlivý a jemný společník, trpělivý při společných hrách s dětmi. Když ho hra s dětmi přestane bavit, nebude si jich všímat. Je však nutné po příchodu štěňátka domů naučit děti, jak se mají k pejskovi chovat. Nesmíme nechat děti zneužívat dobrácké povahy lapinkoiry. I tato rasa potřebuje svůj klid a prostor pro odpočinek.

Lapinkoira vás zaujme svou bezkonfliktní povahou. Problémovým situacím a konfrontacím se snaží vyhnout. Naopak přátelskost ocení. Nebuďte proto překvapeni, když volně pobíhající fenka lapinkoiry uvítá každého člověka a psa v dosahu. Se psem, který se s ní chce přátelit, si pohraje. Psa, který projeví nezájem, či dokonce agresivitu, ostentativně ignoruje. Obdobně se bude chovat k přítomným lidem. Pokud na procházce potkáte nějaká zvířata, např. slepice za plotem, bude se s nimi dobře socializovaná lapinkoira chtít kamarádit.

Lapinkoira není hlídacím psem. Když se objeví někdo cizí, ohlásí ho štěkotem, ale nečekejte od svého psa zásah ve prospěch vašeho majetku. U socializované lapinkoiry se nemusíte obávat, že kousne vaši návštěvu. Neprojevuje se obecně ani nadměrným štěkáním. To může nastat pouze ve chvílích nudy a samoty.

Vzhledem k jeho pasteveckým kořenům, inteligenci, aktivitě a dobré pohyblivosti je výborným psem pro agility, obedienci, flyball, frisbee a další psí sporty. Pokud s ním nechcete žádný z těchto sportů provozovat, nesmutněte. Ocení i delší procházky a vaši přítomnost. Nicméně, tak jako každý jiný pes, potřebuje být vychován a je vhodné naučit ho základní poslušnosti. Socializovat a vychovat ho díky jeho bystrosti a sociální inteligenci není nijak náročné. Od mala je vhodné dávat mu náznaky najevo, kdo je pánem, a také být důsledný - ne však tvrdý (to lapinkoira nepotřebuje!). Při výcviku lapinkoiry není vhodné jeden cvik opakovat stále dokola. Je lepší ho opakovat později nebo až další den.

Toto přizpůsobivé plemeno bude díky své touze po kontaktu s rodinou rádo žít v bytě. Jeho původ a hustota srsti jej však spíše předurčují pro ubytování venku s častým kontaktem s rodinou. Pokud ho necháte volně se pohybovat mezi domem a zahradou, bude nejšťastnější. Pozor však, jestli máte v plánu lapinkoiru ubytovanou v bytě nechávat dlouho samotnou. Stane se z ní znuděný, nevybitý pes a může vám začít ničit nábytek. Takový způsob života pro toto aktivní plemeno není vhodný.
